Hi, Baiba here.
I’m a startup founder, and creative, based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Bringing Real Food Back to the Center of Modern Living
I’m the founder of Gourmie Goods — building Europe’s go-to destination for real, artisan food. In a world shaped by mass production and empty convenience, we’re championing something different: honest ingredients, small-batch producers, and food that tastes truly exceptional. We launched in 2024 and have built a growing community of customers across Germany and Europe.
I believe eating well is the foundation of a good life. Through Gourmie Goods, I want to help people reconnect with what they eat — and where it comes from. With radical transparency, beautiful storytelling, and a curated range of delicious products, we’re redefining what good food means today.
Technology & Digital Product Design
Before Gourmie Goods, I spent several years at the intersection of technology, food, and retail. I co-founded and led Vegshelf, a digital B2B marketplace helping independent retailers discover and order from emerging food and drink brands across Europe. We served over 300 B2B clients and built a fully remote tech startup from the ground up.
Along the way, I taught myself digital product design. Every interface, user flow, and website I’ve launched has been my own. Beyond beautiful visuals, I care deeply about UX and solving real problems for real users. I believe in the power of details - they determine how a product feels and how much you enjoy using it.
Investment Analysis
From 2018 to 2023, I served as an Expert Evaluator for the European Commission’s EIC Accelerator, helping select and fund some of Europe’s most ambitious deep-tech startups in food tech, consumer goods, and retail. Over five years, I reviewed more than 160 proposals, representing over €185M in funding across innovation, sustainability, and future consumer technologies.
That experience gave me a front-row seat to Europe’s startup landscape — and sharpened my sense for what makes a venture fundable, scalable, and built to last.
International Trade & Export Management
My roots in entrepreneurship began early — at 25, I launched my first company, helping small European brands grow internationally and access new export markets. I lived between Germany, Japan, and the UK while building cross-border networks and worked closely with producers across Europe to bring their products to new markets — work that earned me a spot in the 2018 YTILI Fellowship, a selective transatlantic program by the U.S. Department of State and the German Marshall Fund. Working in export and wholesale early on gave me a strong foundation in how products move across borders and cultures — from how they’re sourced and priced to how they scale internationally.
Let’s connect
I occasionally advise early-stage founders, collaborate with brands, or support projects I believe in — especially in food, design, or consumer innovation. If that’s you, feel free to email me at hello@baibasoika.com or DM me on LinkedIn.
